The Nagaur Fair is the second largest cattle fair in India. It takes place in January or February, depending on the year. It is held around its crenellated fort, which is reminiscent of that of Jaisalmer. The place is magical, and the presence of all these animals immerses us in an oriental fairy tale!
The district of Nagaur is the land of fairs, which are not just cattle markets, but a way of life. Rural populations participate in these fairs with great enthusiasm, as if they were major social events. In addition to livestock, they also sell everyday items, ranging from needles to nails. The fairs are in fact the true face of rural Rajasthan and a strong testimony to its social harmony.
